Bespoke Fittings for Bar, Library & Whisky Room

Modern Additions with a Respect for the Past
A bespoke extension project for Waterside House, where Paterson of Oldmeldrum returned to install custom fittings 25 years after crafting a handmade local Elm kitchen. This project involved designing and building high-quality furniture, including bar fittings, a home library, and the intricate Whisky Room.
Designing a Circular Whisky Room
The Whisky Room was one of the most technically demanding parts of the project. Just 2.2 metres in diameter, the space required creative thinking and highly accurate planning. We constructed the entire room layout in our workshop before installation, carefully dry-fitting each unit and incorporating fine detailing like curved components and concealed lighting grooves.
Despite a last-minute issue with the fit of one unit, our team was able to make precise on-site adjustments — delivering a flawless result with just 2 millimetres to spare.
Honouring the Original Craft
Waterside House was a rare opportunity to revisit a home we had worked on over 25 years ago. Having crafted the original handmade Elm kitchen, we were asked back to design and install new bespoke furniture that honoured the existing character of the home. From the handcrafted bar with bi-folding pocket doors to the library shelving and built-in seating, every element was created with sensitivity to the space and seamless integration in mind. This phase of the project was about continuity — blending timeless materials and techniques with modern function.
