At Paterson of Oldmeldrum, we're all about beautiful kitchens. But behind every design, there's a story. Ours starts with Ernie Paterson. He's been passionate about crafting high-quality furniture for over 47 years – since 1978, to be exact. And honestly, he's still as excited about it today as he was back then.

Ernie's journey is pretty interesting. He didn't start out making kitchens. He trained as a builder's surveyor, which gave him a solid understanding of how things are built. Then, he had a lightbulb moment. He discovered bespoke joinery, and that was it. Working directly with clients, he realised how much he loved bringing their dream homes to life. And kitchens? Well, they just clicked.

So, Ernie headed back to Aberdeenshire and took a leap of faith. He launched Paterson of Oldmeldrum from his dad's old chicken shed. It was there, that he began crafting his first custom kitchens, and he quickly realised he'd found his calling.

That chicken shed was our home until 1995. Eventually, we outgrew the coop and moved into our current workshop in Oldmeldrum. We've made some changes over the years, but our focus on quality has always stayed the same.

Ernie's secret? He believes in mixing old-school craftsmanship with the latest technology. He's gathered a fantastic team who are just as passionate as he is. They combine years of experience with modern techniques to create kitchens that are not only stunning but also built to last. Ernie's dedication to quality is the heart of Paterson of Oldmeldrum. He's not just the founder; he's the inspiration.
